Week18...Sunday...To Jamnagar We Go

Sunday morning, Spencer and I both woke up about 4 am.  He played some games on the computer and I slowly packed our bags for the trip to Jamnagar.  It was nice to be able to sort and pack slowly with no rush to get out the door.

After showering and having everything ready to go, we went downstairs for breakfast.  Then we headed to the airport.

One more trip through the crazy streets of Mumbai.

Indian lines for ticketing are about like Indian lane of traffic...they don't exist.  But, we made it to the ticket counter, got our bags checked, and made it through security.  We had plenty of time, so there wasn't much stress on our part to get it done quickly.

To go through security, ladies and gents go in separate lines.  I had included my bag of cross-stitch in my carry-on since our checked luggage was rather full. In America, you can take scissors that are less than 3 inches long.  Apparently, you can't do that in India.  So, one of my nicer pairs of embroidery scissors are now in the trash in Mumbai.  :(

The flight to Jamnagar was fast...less than an hour in the air.  I slept through most of it.

I was very surprised as we came in for landing.  The land was brown.  I was expecting lush jungle.  You know...India = The Jungle Book.

Nope.

We're in a desert.

Brown, brown, and more brown.

Can you tell which of these people isn't like the others?

The airport was teeny-tiny.  It was one long building with arrivals on one end and departures on the other.

We had no problem finding our driver.

The reason we are here...a pilot plant at Reliance.

Then we drove through the dry, hot desert to the hotel.
The land was all farmland...waiting for the rain.

We saw cows...

And goats and sheep...

And camels!

Then...in the middle of nowhere...a hotel...with grass!

We checked in and ate lunch at the restaurant.  Luckily, the food was very good!

After lunch, I wanted to go into Jamnagar and explore with Spencer, but he wasn't feeling well. So, we took a long afternoon nap instead.  We went swimming and then had dinner.  Again, good food. (Which is a relief since we'll be eating here for the next 2 weeks!!!)

We were able to Skype with Grams and Grandpa.  It was really good to hear the kids voices and know that they are healthy and happy!  They are having a wonderful time and having adventures of their own!

Tomorrow...Spencer commissions a pilot plant!
