In the morning, we headed back to the airport and checked our luggage. You are only allowed to check luggage 12 hours before the plane leaves. We were there 13 hours early...but the nice agent let us check them anyway.
Next, we took the train into New York City. We bought 2 umbrellas, cause it was raining, and walked to the Empire State Building. We went inside the lobby, but chose not to go up, cause it was raining. I did ask the security guard if I could take the elevator to the 600th floor. He said no because there were only 86 floors. Silly mortal...doesn't know what's really at the top!
Then we took the subway up a few blocks. We walked to the Manhattan Temple. It was AMAZING!!! (Christina Eichhorn...thank you SO MUCH for recommending this!!!) We made an 11am endowment session. It was packed! Then Spencer and I stood proxy for some sealings...both husband/wife and parent/child. The spirit was overwhelming...but calming and loving and peaceful at the same time. While we were in the sealing room, a deaf lady joined us with a friend and the ASL missionaries. We did several of her family. I held the dialogue sheet and acted as the "bouncing ball" so she could follow along with the sealer. It was an amazing experience. And I do not know enough sign language!!! The missionaries said that New Yorkers have an accent when they sign too!!!
When we left the temple, the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. We walked along edges of Central Park to the American Museum of Natural History.
The museum was just like the one from "Night at the Museum". We had fun exploring the stuffed animals, the dinosaur bones, and the people exhibits.
But...what we spent the most time at and enjoyed the most was the Hall of Minerals. (Yes...we are indeed science dorks.). We would look at the rocks and guess what elements were in them based on their colors. Then we'd look at the information and see if we were right.
They even had some radioactive and iridescent material on display.

We didn't see the entire museum, because we were getting pretty tired and needed to head back to the airport. We took the subway to the train to the plane.
