Cinnamon Things

I saw this recipe on one of the homeschooling blogs I follow.

It looked easy (it was) and seemed yummy (it was).  So...we tried it out.

My Daughter SPEAKS to Red Pandas!!!

A few Saturdays ago, we all went to the Greenville Zoo (Spencer included).  At the Red Panda exhibit, the animals were actually out and about and making this screetching noise.  Well, Makenzie started screetching back.  The red panda's went NUTS!!!

Flash-forward a few weeks.  We went back to the zoo (Spencer was at work).  Both the red pandas were asleep in their house, not visible in the exhibit.  Makenzie started making the screetching sound and they both bolted out of their house and started running around the exhibit and calling back to her!  It is CRAZY to watch!!!

We LOVE Dr. Prigge

Our pediatrician is Dr. Michelle Prigge (sounds out like PRIG-eee).  She is AWESOME!  I remember when Isaiah was being transferred from the Mary Black Special Care Unit to Greenville Memorial NICU, I was asking the nurse and doctor where the hospital was.  Dr. Prigge was doing her rounds with the healthy newborns and overheard our conversation.  She hand-wrote directions for me to the hospital!

Well...today we decided it was time to take Isaiah to the doctor.  He hasn't been able to keep anything other than water in his stomach for 3 days.  Dr. Prigge wasn't available, so we took the first opening.  When we got there, I saw Dr. Prigge and said HI.  She was on-call at the hospital, but it was a slow day.  I told her we were here because Isaiah was sick and she asked if we wanted her to take a look.  So she took care of us on her off day!  What an cool doctor!  My children just LOVE her.

My Dad is Nominated...

My Dad is 1 of 10 finalists in a nation-wide "Sexiest Hairdresser" competetion. The competetion focuses on stylists that care for their clients and communities physical and emotional well-being. He was nominated by a client. He is a canoe instructor and volunteers with the Girls Scouts. He encourages his clients to donate hair to Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for children with medical hair loss. He hosts/organizes a "Kutting for Kids" everyyear to raise money and hair for Locks of Love. He has performed many pre and post hairdos for cancer patients. He was a Naval Officer for his first career, and I grew up with him cutting hair in our kitchen. When he retired from the Navy, we encouraged him to follow his hobby full-time and he became a hairdresser. And...best of all...he is an amazing Dad and Granddad.

Here is an article from the local paper.

Cousin's Week 2010

One week after we got home from Panama City Beach, FL, we turned around and headed back down to FL for Cousin's Week 2010.  Aunt Marth, Uncle Dave, and Michael joined us to kick-off the weekend.  It was a blast!  Then Grams and Grandpa kicked out all the adults and spoiled the grandkids rotten and wore them out!  Then, 4 days later, I drove back to FL for the 3rd time in one month!  The kids showed off their mad swimming and boating skills, we played some mean uno, and made some more wonderful steeping stone.

Overall, an AMAZING Cousin's Week!!!

Thank You Xytel!!!

While the kids and I had a FABULOUS vacation at the beach, Spencer was installing this pilot plant.

Zoo World

On our last day, we dropped Spencer at work, checked out of the hotel, and then headed to Zoo World.

WOW!!!

It was only 7 acres...but we were able to pet a wolf, pet a Rhea, pet a lemur, have our picture taken with a lemur, and eat lunch with a white peacock!!!

Panama City Beach...Week TWO!!!

Week Two was just as wonderful.  On Sunday, we drove to Pensacola, FL.  My grandfather's twin sisters live there...so we just had to visit.  First we visited Aunt Jacky.  Then we explored the Naval Air Muesuem on NAS Pensacola.  Finally, we went to Aunt Gerri's house for dinner.  It was a lovely visit...I only wish it could have been longer.  The kids and I spent the rest of the week on the beach.  On our final night, we ate at Sharky'--again.  The girls LOVED Sharky's...mainly because the kids meals were served on frisbees.  We have quite the collection!  They had a karaoke open-mic night and so, of course, the girls just had to sing!

Overall...it was a WONDERFUL vacation!!!

Hailey is THREE!!!

We spent Hailey's 3rd birthday in Panama City Beach, FL.  Super fun!
