This month has been crazy busy. The weeks have been filled with school and work and play. The weekends have been filled with family fun. And somewhere amid all that I've been trying to prepare for a long trip to India!
SO...I'm going to skip the normal format for these posts and just post a TON of pictures and videos. Hope you enjoy!

Spencer's Birthday. Riley helped me with the cake. Hailey made Daddy a necklace and we bought him some shirts that were not dark blue or black. Now this is actually color in his closet!
Tuckered out Riley. It's so sad she doesn't have a mother that will put her in her bed for a nap!
We have finally equipped the entire family to be able to go bike riding together. Makenzie is excellent riding a bike, but needs to learn how to break with the handle bar brakes. Riley and Isaiah LOVE the trailer. Hailey is not quite up to long rides yet, but she's very close! Our first outing was along a small portion of the Swamp Rabbit Trail...from Cleveland Park to Falls Park. We packed a picnic lunch...and had some company!
Makenzie and Hailey took gymnastics this year. They LOVED it! They are going to be in Florida during the end of the year presentation, so the owner gave them their medals early! I arranged for a babysitter for Isaiah and Riley the last two weeks so I could watch Makenzie and Hailey. They are doing so well!
We've been having lots of fun learning about history.We're studying the Medieval Period. They made their own family crest. They also made an origami hat and a Japanese family crest. And then they made their own Magna Carta.

A quick trip to the zoo. The most fascinating animal...a caterpillar on the ground!
Makenzie (and Hailey) have been busy with American Heritage Girls. They toured a bakery and decorated cookies. They talked with a group of veterans and then participated in a mini-PT session. Makenzie learned about the flag for her "Our Flag" badge. Finally, we went to a different troop on Earth Day to check them out. They planted flowers in recycled pots to be given to another as a gift.
To finish up the month, we went camping (FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A FAMILY) with the AHG troop. We borrowed our gear from some wonderful friends. (THANK YOU so much...Thomas family, Eichhorn family, and Hansen family). I decided NOT to try cooking dinner...so we ate before we came. We all had a wonderful time.

They had a flag retirement ceremony. It was really peaceful and lovely to watch.
They next morning, we broke camp. Then went for a hike. It was lots of fun. It was rainy and as we moved up the mountain, we moved into the clouds. That was pretty cool. When we made it to the shelter (our turn-around point), the little ones had gotten REALLY cold. Luckily, Mrs. Alice was prepared and we wrapped Isaiah and Riley in emergency thermal blankets and headed back down the hill. Hailey made sure to jump in every puddle on the way down. It was a wonderful hike and lots of fun.
