We have been working hard on our yard this year.
The last month has been spent weeding, mulching, etc.
Then we needed to move our woodpile. It was where we were planning on adding beds...and wasn't really in a convinient spot for chopping or bringing into the house.
The girls helped move the wood, and we sang lots of song as we worked. It made the tedious process much more fun and enjoyable!
Once that was done, we could start our raised beds.
We added three near the front of our house. Then planted peppers (6 red, 6 orange, 12 chocolate, and 12 sweet bannanna) to 2 beds and LOTS of herbs to the 3rd.
Now we are in the middle of building 5 beds on the far side of the house. Those will get tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, watermelon, cantelope, beans, carrots, and corn.
My mouth is already watering.
Isaiah LOVES helping in anything we do...the messier the better.
He especially enjoys riding on the lawn-mower and says "Aaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh" the entire time.
And finally...we've decided to take the plunge and become chicken owners!!! The girls helped pick out 6 chickens. They are adorable and the kids LOVE holding them. We are hoping to add a duck on Wednesday when they get a new shipment.
There you have it. We are not totally dorky homeschoolers...but well fed (hopefully)!!!
