This was an up and down week. With the weather and with life.
Spencer
Spencer traveled to Pasadena, TX for work. When he returned on Wednesday, we went to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. His co-worker, Thomas, joined us.
He's been very diligent with both our whole-foods diet and working out at the YMCA. At this week's weigh-in, he was down to 229.6! It's the first time in YEARS that he's been under 230!!!
Rebecca
I've been rather stressed out this week. Makenzie's birthday is Tuesday (YIKES!!!) And...she's turning 8!!! That means that we need to plan her baptism and that involves coordinating travel of many family and friends from different locations. Plus...we need to organize her birthday party. Our apartment is just too small to host a party the size she would like, so we've consolidated our vision! Just a little added stress.
On a positive note, I'm still LOVING our whole-foods diet. It is a little more work on my part in terms of planning and cooking, but the results are SO GOOD!!! Plus, it makes me happy to be working with GOOD, quality ingredients. I'm not just "reheating" stuff...but cooking food!
We cooked a whole chicken in the crock-pot for dinner one night. Then we threw all the bones back in the crock-pot, added some spice and water, and left it overnight. Viola...chicken stock.
Too bad I don't like eating soup!
Makenzie
Makenzie is turning 8! Yikes!
This week she worked very diligently during school. Her writing and spelling is developing nicely. In math, she started working with fractions and really enjoyed it. In history, we've begun studying the Golden Age of China.
On Thursday, she had an American Heritage Girls troop meeting at the leader's house to work on the "Kitchen Scientist" badge. She had a great time!
On Saturday, she got sick and still has the sniffles. Hopefully she'll be better soon!
Hailey
Hailey continues to work through the lower-case alphabet. She worked on the letters v, w, and x this week. In math, she's adding numbers up to 10 and has started adding 3 numbers together.
On Thursday, she came with the little ones and I to Target and we bought Makenzie her birthday presents. Hailey also used her allowance money to buy a Brave Polly Pocket set. She's very proud of herself!
On Saturday, she joined the rest of the A.H.G troop to help at the First Baptist Church's OutReach Ministry clothe's closet. I dropped Hailey off and went and got the oil changed in the car. Hailey LOVED it. She did such a great job.
Isaiah
Isaiah enjoyed destroying the house this week. He colored a little, worked on puzzles, practiced cutting paper, and continued to work on his colors.
On day, we spent the morning building with our Keva Blocks. It was really fun to build a tower with him.
And then...like all towers...they must fall!!!
All this working and building and playing sure wears on out!!!
(And mean ole' Mommy was too busy cooking to put the little ones in a crib to sleep!!!)
Riley
Riley is growing like a weed. She's learning the power of words and gets SO excited when we understand her. When we do what she wants, she grins and dances in place. Her newest favorite word is "Banana".
Riley brought me several articles of clothing. She wanted me to put ALL of them on her...at the same time!
And once she was all dressed, she was ready to go!!!
Later in the week, she decided she needed a hat. Since one could not be found, she made one instead!
BUT...the most exciting thing this week was the arrival of a long-awaited package!!!!!
She LOVES her quilt (and doesn't like sharing with Isaiah!)
Well...that's a week in our life.
