It's been a fun and busy two weeks here with at the Everitt house.
Spencer
Spencer spent a week in Houston, TX. It was a safety meeting for a large pilot plant. Long days of boring, detail focused meetings. When he got home, he took us out to dinner and then we went and saw the movie "OZ". It was a fun homecoming!
Rebecca
I finally got around to finishing two more quilts.
This one was for my nephew Riley who turned one in March. I should have made one when he was born, but life was a little hectic last year. And this one ended up being late. But...it got there and he loves it.
This one was for a baby girl in our ward. She is a teeny tiny thing and simply precious!
Makenzie, Hailey, Riley
The three girls have been doing fine these two weeks. Growing, learning, and generally having fun.
The weather on Good Friday was simply WONDERFUL...so we went to lunch at a local deli. Totally worth it!!!
Isaiah
Isaiah's hair had gotten LONG. So...it was haircut time.
Isaiah had his follow-up with the ENT. He said the ears look great. He ran some tests and feel the tubes are open and the hearing is better. So, now we'll just follow up with him every 6 months until the tubes come out and the eardrums heal.
On Easter Monday, Hailey got sick. So, while Makenzie went outside and played we put on a movie for the sick girl. Isaiah took a nap...in an interesting position!
Then later, he played on the iPhone while I cooked dinner. Again...interesting choice of poses!
Isaiah had a rectal dilation on April 4th. I think he was in the OR maybe 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure I talked with the surgeon longer than he worked on Isaiah! Things are generally going well. We have a follow-up in two weeks. To sum up...MOST kids with Hirschprung's Disease are able to be potty trained. But...Hirschprung's plus Down Syndrome will make the entire process much harder. (Great!)
Special School Stuff
At the library, they took out the parachute one day. Lots of fun.
We are starting to learn about plants in science. Here, they are working on their folders.
In History, we are learning about the Vikings. They made model boats and houses.
Then, we made Viking bread. Let's just say if we were starving, it would be edible.
(I don't know why blogspot keeps flipping this picture over. Oh well.)
We are also learning about Medieval England. Here, Makenzie and Hailey are playing the game "Fox and Geese". It's actually really fun and makes for a good restaurant waiting game!
The Greenville Zoo hosted a Conservation Day. It was busy, but not too overwhelming. Lots of organizations had booths set up with information about local conservation efforts. I was really sick...so I just focused on surviving the day. The kids had a great time, though.
Super Duper Family Fun
We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We went to a local park and enjoyed the wonderful weather Saturday afternoon.
Then we came home and dyed Easter eggs. One of the library books we read had a recipe for making your own Easter egg dye. We used it and it worked really well. 1 teaspoon of food coloring to 3 teaspoons of vinegar...then fill the cup with water.
And what do you do with a bunch of colored eggs...make deviled eggs, of course!
Easter was a beautiful day. We left our Easter baskets in Brunswick (who knew we'd still be in an apartment 8 months later...), so the girls left out bags for the Easter bunny and a carrot.
The Easter bunny was super nice and brought his own baskets for the kids.
This year, the Easter bunny was tricky. He left candy in the baskets and filled the eggs with Lego pieces. Makenzie thought it was pretty cool, but Hailey was rather disappointed!
The little ones saw no reason to collect eggs when there was candy in the basket.
After church, I attempted to take a family picture. (Stop laughing...I know...after church, during a sugar crash, not the best time for pictures. Sigh.) They all looked really cute, though.
For Easter dinner, we made lamb, potatoes, carrots, and green beans. YUM!
Spencer and I have decided to attempt a Triathlon at the local YMCA on June 1st. So, he'd been searching for a good racing bike. He found a great deal on Monday. He also found some special wheels that will allow his mountain bike to be used for road racing. And finally a trailer/stroller for the little kids.
Makenzie was way too big for her current bike...so she also got a new bike. Hailey got Makenzie's old bike. So...now we are all set to start biking as a family!
Well...that's two weeks in our life!!!
HOW DO YOU DO IT ALL????? What a busy & FUN couple of weeks. You should give lessons! :-)
